The Snowman – story by Raymond Briggs and music by Howard Blake

Join Toscana Strings and Laura Tye perform this magical seasonal story through music and dance. What happens when a little boy builds a snowman and to his surprise, the snowman comes to life? With a little help from the audience the little boy and the snowman embark on a magical adventure together.

The Nutcracker – music by Pytor Tchaikovsky

A classic Christmas favourite which has been adapted for strings and dance. On Christmas Eve Clara’s family host a large Christmas party. This is the highlight of the year when all their friends and family celebrate together. Clara is distraught after her brother breaks a nutcracker that her God Father has given her, but the adventure of Christmas Eve is just about to start…the Nutcracker is now a Prince and after fighting off the kitchen mice takes Clara to the Kingdom of the Sweers.

String quintet Toscana Strings was founded in 2002 with all members having studied at Birmingham Conservatoire. Their Stories Set To Music concerts were launched in 2018 with the aim of delivering premium quality live music in primary schools in a fun and interactive way. In 2009 Toscana Strings was awarded Best Workshop Provider by Primary Music Magazine and two years later joined forces with Laura Tye, former soloist with Birmingham Royal Ballet. This collaboration has gone from strength to strength and concerts are now performed all over the UK. To date Toscana Strings and Laura Tye have performed to over 60,000 children.
