About Lunchtime Organ Concert: Lunchtime Christmas Music with Gloucester Cathedral Choir

Customer notice:

Please note this concert will take place at Symphony Hall

Immerse yourself in a lunchtime concert of glorious Christmas music with the renowned Gloucester Cathedral Choir and Birmingham City Organist Thomas Trotter. Lasting around an hour, the choir will sing a wide selection of traditional carols and modern classics and, of course, there’ll be a chance to raise the roof with a couple of audience carols too!

The Cathedral Choir at Gloucester Cathedral, originally consisting of Boy Choristers and Lay Clerks, was established in 1541. Girl Choristers were first recruited to sing in the Choir in 2016, for girls’ full equality of opportunity and scholarships began in September 2021. The Cathedral Choir has been known as one of the U. K’s leading choirs for many decades. Gloucester Cathedral Choir consists of 9 adult Lay Clerks (professional singers) and 32 Choristers (16 boy choristers and 16 girl Choristers)

Birmingham City Organist since 1983, Thomas Trotter is one of the world’s top-ranking virtuoso organists and was awarded the 2020 Queen’s Medal for Music. His fortnightly lunchtime concerts last around an hour and showcase the organ’s sublime delicacy and awesome power – as well as his own technical wizardry – in some of the most inventive programmes you’re ever likely to hear.
