The Voice of Folk incorporates traditional folk music into contemporary composition with a particular emphasis on the voice as both an instrument and a vessel of cultural heritage. Through the interplay of vocal melodies and instrumental arrangements, composers such as Komitas Verdapet, Tigran Mansurian, Luciano Berio, György Ligeti and Julia Wolfe breathe new life into timeless folk tunes.
