    Technicians x 2 (Lighting, AV, Sound & Stage)

    Salary: £22,000

    B:Music are now seeking two new permanent technicians to join our Technical team where you will be challenged and engaged in various roles whilst working on many of our high-profile productions.

    Whether liaising with world class orchestras and touring productions, supporting education and community activities, carrying out maintenance or preparing for future events, you will be at the epicentre of activity from load in to load out. You will be expected to be professional and customer focused at all times, whilst delivering technical services to the highest of standards whilst operating in a safe working manner.

    It is essential to have experience in either; stage management, lighting, sound and/or AV equipment at operator and rigging level. It is desirable to have working knowledge of Avolites lighting systems alongside a strong understanding and knowledge at operational level of digital and analogue sound desks. Experience in sound operation must include mixing bands, comedy and corporate events. A good understanding of H&S legislation and IPAF/PASMA certificates would also be beneficial. You will need to be highly organised, a good communicator, effective at multi-tasking and have a good eye for detail.

    Due to the nature of our work, a flexible approach is essential and working hours will include evenings and weekends. Long hours will be expected but will be rewarded with an enthusiastic work environment and the opportunity to work alongside many exciting productions.

    Hourly rate of pay: £9.50 - £11.35 dependent on the job role

    Our two venues in Birmingham - Town Hall and Symphony Hall – host a programme of over 700 events a year that embraces internationally renowned classical, rock, pop and roots artists alongside talent development initiatives to support emerging talent.  Our educational and community programmes connect over 18,000 young people and adults each year to the world of music and performance.     We are now seeking an enthusiastic Sous Chef to join a new team at Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

    Symphony Hall has undergone a multi-million-pound redevelopment project: Making an Entrance. This project has led to a major transformation of Symphony Hall’s public foyer areas. A new café area and larger foyers present an opportunity to create new food and beverage experiences for Symphony Hall’s visitors.

    Event Accountant

    B:Music’s mission is to inspire a love of live music, through performance, participation and learning.

    Overall Purpose

    To provide event reporting, calculating and transacting event settlements for the charity and trading company. The role holder will assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, accu-rately processing all transactions within a restricted timescale and provide general accounting and administration support to the finance team

    Key Accountabilities

    · Co-ordination of all internal and external information for settlement calculations.

    · Undertake all event settlements including settlement calculation, journal preparation and post-ing, liaison with promoters and artists, and the preparation of weekly BACS payments.

    · Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts and event reporting, including the timely posting of event related and other journals.

    · Preparation and processing of accounting entries for Food & Beverage departments.

    · Develop good working relationships with other departments; ensuring all information is received promptly and any issues dealt with in a timely manner.

    · Setting up of new event codes in the finance system and other systems.

    · Maintain Jazzlines and Learning & Participation events; liaising with the departments to ensure accurate and timely restricted funds transfers are processed.

    · Provide budgetary control and maintain records of the charity and trading company income and expenditure.

    · Monthly reconciliation of various control accounts, including investigation and resolution of any balances, to ensure delivery of accurate month end reports.

    · Provision of ad-hoc management information for events.

    · Calculation and submission of quarterly FET reporting.

    · Provide general accounting and administration support to the finance team.

    · Duties and responsibilities will vary from time to time and the post-holder will be expected to perform all the other such duties as are reasonably comparable.

    Person Specification

    · High level of numeracy and good attention to detail.

    · Competency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.

    · Previous experience of working in an accounting environment and in a similar role.

    · Excellent communication skills combined with self-motivation and enthusiasm

    · Good planning, organisational and time management skills. With the ability to work under pres-sure and to tight deadlines.

    · Ability to operate with confidence, credibility and initiative across all functions and levels of the organisation.

    Desirable

    · Achievement of/working towards an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT)
