We’re recruiting for Community Spirit 2026!
Now in its 13th year, we’re looking for community choirs from across Birmingham and the West Midlands to join us for another run of our hugely successful mass singing project, Community Spirit.
What is Community Spirit?
Community Spirit is a B:Music project, delivered in partnership with our Associate Artists, Black Voices and has been running for over a decade. The unique project offers local community choirs the opportunity to share repertoire, showcase their passion and develop new skills. The project culminates with the choirs performing as a collective in a large-scale concert in Symphony Hall. Community Spirit aims to harness the power of music to celebrate the diversity of our city, enhance wellbeing, and forge new connections and friendships.
The theme for this year will be a special celebration of the incredible impact the project has had, and will showcase the wonderful relationships, fantastic compositions and treasured memories that have been created over the years.
As well as providing opportunities to share in the unique joy and benefits of group singing, this year's project will also enable community choir leaders to develop new skills and help take their choirs to new heights through an exclusive professional development (CPD) session.

No! We welcome choirs of all musical abilities and styles.
Who will lead the rehearsals?
Carol Pemberton, Managing Director of Black Voices will host the rehearsals. Please note that choir leaders will be expected to lead their choir when rehearsing/sharing individual pieces but will not necessarily need to be in attendance for all of the rehearsals or for the full duration. If you are concerned about availability, please reach out to us to discuss.
What do I need to bring?
We advise to bring water to keep hydrated, but otherwise just you and your voice!
What should I wear?
Whatever you’re most comfortable in. We don’t have a uniform or dress code, just B:You!
I have additional needs, can I still take part?
Of course, we welcome everyone! We have places available on all our projects for individuals with additional needs – you can let us know the details and we will do our best to make sure that the relevant adjustments are in place.
Sounds great, how do we join?
