The Birmingham Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2014 by director Sean Gibbs, with an aim to showcase the composing and improvising talents of some of the best jazz musicians from the Birmingham scene and beyond.
They released their critically acclaimed debut album Burns in 2015, featuring compositions of Sean’s inspired by the poetry of Robert Burns. In addition to the material featured on this album they began collating a constantly growing repertoire of brand new music penned by members of the orchestra and special guests.
