It’s not every day you meet a musician who’s the complete package, but Jörg Widmann – dazzling composer, inspiring conductor and clarinettist extraordinaire – is exactly that. He’s an artist with a serious sense of fun, and today he plays a delightfully operatic showpiece by Weber, conducts his own anarchic homage to Beethoven, and then throws caution to the winds in Beethoven’s very wildest symphony.
