Transatlantic Sessions returns for 2026, continuing to explore and celebrate the rich musical traditions that connect Scotland, Ireland and the US.
With its roots as an award-winning TV series and an annual focal point of Celtic Connections, the exclusive line-up combines guest singers and a stellar house band, inviting them to interweave original material with age-old tunes and songs as they explore shared roots and find new common ground between today’s finest Celtic and Americana musicians.

“Each year offers a different experience to reflect the guest artists as well as the house band’s repertoire choices for the year,” says Tatiana Hargreaves who plays the fiddle in the Transatlantic Sessions House Band. “I always look forward to learning the music and exploring the cross-cultural collaborations during the rehearsals that lead to the final performances.”
Tatiana’s journey into music started when she was young. “I started playing fiddle when I was 3 years old and grew up playing old-time and bluegrass fiddling in Oregon. My parents would play me and my brother recordings of Jerry Douglas, Capercaillie, John Doyle, and even the Transatlantic Sessions original series!”
Over the past decade, she has been on the forefront of an up-and-coming generation of old time, bluegrass and new acoustic musicians.

“My musical partner, Allison de Groot, and I were invited as guests to for the 2023 Transatlantic Sessions tour and had such an incredible experience. We were invited to officially be a part of the band the following year. It is truly an honour to have joined the band officially,” says Tatiana. “Each time has been a highlight of my year.”
Described as a “can’t-miss pair in 2019” by Paste magazine, Tatiana’s duo with Allison de Groot have been nominated for and received awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association, the Americana Music Association, the GRAMMYs, the Canadian Folk Music Awards, and the JUNOs – and de Groot was recently a recipient of the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo.
When asked what she’s most looking forward to in this year’s Transatlantic Sessions, she says: “While I enjoy the different guests each year, perhaps my favourite moment is always getting to play the big instrumental sets with the house band. It’s such an invigorating and exciting time to play with such a big band of legendary musicians!”
“I imagine each audience member will have their own experience of the show,” says Tatiana. “But I hope they recognise not just the special guest vocalists, but the incredible band that holds it all together — especially the rhythm section of John Doyle, James Mackintosh, Daniel Kimbro and Donald Shaw.”
“It is truly an honour to have joined the band officially,” says Tatiana. “Each time has been a highlight of my year.”
