Declared “Britain’s greatest living organist” by Gramophone magazine, Thomas Trotter celebrates the 900th recital of his extraordinary tenure as Birmingham City Organist since 1983 this season.
Among the world’s most celebrated musicians, his honours include The Queen’s Medal for Music and the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumental award for his outstanding contribution to classical music.
His hour-long lunchtime concerts showcase the organ’s sublime delicacy and awesome power – as well as his own technical wizardry – in some of the most inventive programmes you’re ever likely to hear. Themed concerts celebrating composers and notable events feature throughout the season, special guests join for duo recitals, and renowned choirs showcase choral gems. Each year, there’s also a guest recital featuring a celebrated organist specially invited by Thomas.
