Online Workshops

As concerts and gigs are still being cancelled as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, Town Hall Symphony Hall has continued to bring live music to the people of Birmingham and beyond. Although our venues have been closed to the public, we have been working hard to keep participants of all ages connected online.

One brilliant example is our Community Spirit Online workshops, where people of all ages and singing abilities come together to learn new songs. Over 150 singers have joined these online music making workshops, with more monthly sessions coming soon.

Digital broadcasts from Town Hall and Symphony Hall in the last three months have amassed almost 200,000 views. We want to continue to deliver a diverse programme of workshops, like those below, and widen access to it for people across the West Midlands. We can't do that without your support.

Any gift, no matter the size, will support the future of live music in Birmingham.

Q&A with Kojo Samuel

Kojo Samuel is one of pop music's leading music directors. Town Hall Symphony Hall invited students from BIMM and CUBE online to ask their questions to the man behind Stormzy's headline-grabbing set on the Pyramid stage at last year's Glastonbury.

Beatboxing with SK Shlomo

The music chartiy responsible for Town Hall Symphony Hall were delighted to present students of Devonshire Junior Academy with a Zoom workshop. Before breaking up for the summer holidays, pupils at school and at home had the chance to come together in the safety of a digital space and learn the skills to become a Superstar Beatboxer in a world of funny sounds, brilliant noises and cool music.

Community Spirit Online

Community Spirit is a project run by Town Hall Symphony Hall in partnership with Black Voices which offers local community choirs the opportunity to share repertoire and perform as a collective in a large-scale concert in Symphony Hall. And although the large-scale concert can not currently take place, the sharing of repertoire will continue monthly for the foreseeable future.
