Casual Technicians (Lighting, Sound and Staging)
/ JobsJob Description
B:Music is a charitable trust that manages Town Hall and Symphony Hall; two iconic venues in the heart of Birmingham. At B:Music, Birmingham’s diversity and creativity are part of everything we do; from our support of artists and audiences to our respect for music from around the corner and around the globe.
We are now seeking new casual technicians to join our technical team, where you will be challenged and engaged in various roles whilst working on many of our high-profile productions.
Whether liaising with world class orchestras and touring productions, supporting education and community activities, carrying out maintenance or preparing for future events, you will be at the centre of activity from load in to load out. You will be expected to be professional and customer focused at all times, whilst delivering technical services to the highest of standards and operating in a safe working manner.
It is essential to have experience in either stage management, staging, lighting or sound (at operator and rigging level). For lighting and sound, it is desirable to have a strong understanding and working knowledge of Avolites lighting systems, or of digital and analogue sound desks, in particular the Midas range. Experience in sound operation should include mixing bands, comedy and corporate events. Our staging technicians should have relevant stage management experience from a similar organisation, or reputable local crewing experience. In all roles, a good understanding of H&S legislation and IPAF/PASMA certificates would be beneficial but are not a necessity. You will need to be highly organised with a good eye for detail, well presented, a good communicator and effective at multi-tasking.
Due to the nature of our work, a flexible approach is essential and working hours will include evenings and weekends. Long hours will be expected but will be rewarded with an enthusiastic work environment and the opportunity to work with many exciting productions.
To apply, we have a short application form for you to download, complete (for each role and you can attach a CV if you wish) and return.
Or, you can send a copy of your CV with a cover letter detailing why you are suitable for the role/s.
Please also complete an Equal Opportunities form and email everything to recruitment@bmusic.co.uk.
