About Supersonic Kids Gigs: Shovel Dance Collective hosted by Anna Palmer

Running time  Start: 11:00am, Finish 12:30pm

Created by the UK’s premiere experimental music festival, Supersonic Kids Gigs are designed for families as a way of introducing children to experimental music – BIG sounds for little people!

Shovel Dance Collective are a group of nine musicians brought together by a communal passion for the folk music of the British Isles, Ireland and beyond. Simultaneously traditional and experimental, for this year's festival special Kids Gig, the collective will present folk music as a living communal activity, inviting families to sing-along, stomp-along and get fully immersed in their storytelling, joyful tunes and calming lullabies. The group favours instruments that conjure a deeper and stranger antiquity; hammered dulcimer, bowed cittern, mountain banjo, pump organ. Expect a magical, interactive performance.

This Kids Gig will be hosted by everyone's favourite alt-rocker and pyscho-storyteller, Anna Palmer from Dorcha, and will focus on themes of care, play, and collectivity.
