About Nashville Sounds In The Round: An Evening with First Time Flyers

Running time  7.30pm-10.30pm

Nashville Sounds in the Round

Birmingham's premier country songwriter night 'Nashville Sounds In The Round' in partnership with B:Music! Hosted by multi award-winning Gasoline & Matches, artists are invited to tell the stories behind their songs in a Bluebird Café style ‘In The Round’ session, stripping the songs back to their origins and transporting the audience right back to the writing rooms. As a Leap Year Special, First Time Flyers will be taking us on a deep dive into their journey becoming one of the hottest new bands on the UK Country Scene, revisiting some of their Solo releases before forming the band & of course all of your FTF favourites. This will be a truly unique and intimate evening, and is one not to be missed!

Gasoline & Matches

Gasoline & Matches are a high energy, multi-award winning, dual fronted British band combining close harmonies, melodic guitar licks and serious musicianship. Fronted by Birmingham natives Sally Rea Morris and Stephen Marks, they are fierce entertainers known for their tongue-in-cheek and much-loved song "Never Have I Ever" described by Bob Harris as “Clever, funny, totally original…and it’s Country!” They built momentum after multiple spins on BBC Radio 2, and never fail to get festival goers on their feet to participate in the infamous drinking game which inspired the song. As resident hosts of Nashville Sounds in the Round, their Bluebird Cafe style songwriter round at Birmingham Symphony Hall, it’s clear to see their contribution & influence on Country and Americana music in the Midlands.

First Time Flyers

When 4 established artists decided to combine their experience of standing ovations at the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, a wealth of West End theatres, as well as their history as major label artists with numerous national tours & Radio 2 playlisting under their belts, the results were always going to be exceptional.

Vicki, Jake, Poppy & Tim have an undeniable ear for feel good melodies, wrapped in the warmth of 4 part harmony. A band made up of 4 lead vocalists & multi-instrumentalists, First Time Flyers are the ultimate self-starters, welcoming into the mix their music production skill set, alongside their eye for concept & design with everything they do.

The quartet are the epitome of band mates; Long-time friends & collaborators, their energy, personalities & connection are visibly infectious & willingly shared from stage to audience.

Off the back of their summer supporting Bruce Springsteen at BST Hyde Park, taking the stage at The Long Road festival before Tenille Townes, First Time Flyers had a majorly successful first UK Headline tour ‘Happier On Tour’.
