About Celebrating Sanctuary: Muntu Valdo

Moving into 2022 Celebrating Sanctuary continue their series of free lunchtime events in partnership with B:Music (Symphony Hall). As part of the celebrations for their 20th Anniversary Programme CSB will be presenting some amazing World Music artists from across the country, with music originating from around the world.

Due to unavoidable circumstances we've had to reschedule our event with Namvula, but we have another amazing artist to bring you next week, and we'll bring Namvula back later in the year.

Muntu Valdo (Cameroon)
Cameroon-born Muntu Valdo’s music is rooted in the blues, mixing African traditions with striking modernity and technical mastery. He’s travelled all over the world and played with some of the great names of African and international music including Ali Farka Touré, Manu Dibango, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Damon Albarn, Richard Bona and Lucinda Williams just to name a few. His mesmerizing solo set juxtaposes his raw, passionate voice and intensely emotive melodies, intricate African guitar lines with an ingenious use of loops and effects to create sun-kissed groove heavy Sawa Blues. Muntu Valdo is now firmly established on the live scene as a solo artist and is preparing a new Album due to be released early 2022.
