About CBSO: Simply Schubert
Who better than Schubert to provide sumptuous music for a summer’s evening and how better to begin than with an overture? In this case, it’s from his rarely performed deeply Romantic opera, Fierabras. His first Symphony (famously composed when he was just 16) then takes centre stage. A lovely, enchanting piece it is very much in contrast to his fourth, a dramatic stormy work in which Mozart’s masterful influence can clearly be heard.
As ever, it is a delight to welcome back long term CSBO associate Edward Gardner to conduct.
