About B:Music & TDE Promotions Presents Steve Saunders: Abstract Visions of a Foreign Land

Premiered in 2019, ‘Abstract Visions of a Foreign Land’ returns for its second outing. Gathering some of the UK’s finest improvisers and musicians, this six-movement composition amalgamates influences from modern jazz circles with the language of contemporary classical composers, most notably French spectral composers Gérard Grisey and Tristan Murail. Steve Saunders leads the eleven-piece ensemble seamlessly between improvisation, moments of tenderness and microtonal chaos as they explore the works inspiration of image formation in the brain, presenting a backdrop of abstract musical ideas that are slowly brought into focus as the piece unfolds.
