About B:JazzFest at B:Eats: Juliane Deil
Juliane Deil is a German born, Birmingham based jazz pianist with a unique sound, blending traditional jazz language with her classical influences. Currently a Master’s student in jazz piano at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, she took part in B:Music’s PRSF funded talent development programme RISE UP.
Growing up regularly performing as a soloist and accompanist, she achieved a Performer’s Diploma with honours aged 16, and discovered her love for jazz and soul in Richmond Music Trust youth bands. Moving to New York with her family in 2015 allowed her to receive expert jazz tuition at Hoff-Barthelson Music School. Once studying a music degree at Durham University, she performed with her trio at Durham Jazz Festival, and gained regular function work as pianist and musical director of Hatfield Big Band.
Her recent performance groups include the Juliane Deil Quartet, who supported Bruno Heinen at the Eastside Jazz Club, The Deil Clark Duo and The Duke Ellington Orchestra. She is excited to continue working under the mentorship of Rebecca Nash, with some of Juliane’s main jazz influences being Oscar Peterson and Red Garland.
