Rachel Podger is one of the most dynamic and recognisable Baroque violinists around today, with superlatives like inspirational, breath-taking and spellbinding regularly attached to her reviews. A regular collaborator with period instrument specialists Armonico Consort, she’ll bring her unique and inspirational approach to Bach’s virtuosic Violin Concerto in A minor and Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in G major from ‘La Stravaganza’.

Armonico Consort also reveal two spectacular choral discoveries from a lesser-known member of the Scarlatti dynasty, Francesco, who was very much overshadowed by his elder brother Alessandro and nephew Domenico. His Dixit Dominus and Mass have been hidden in the Bodleian Library for centuries and are being dubbed ‘the classical music find of the century’. Now brought back to life in exclusive brand new editions, these two masterpieces are written for 16 completely independent lines which engage in all sorts of vocal acrobatics. If you love the choral grandeur of Bach and Handel, the colossal polychoral compositions of the Venetian Baroque, or the spatial complexity of Tallis's 40-part Spem in Alium, this concert is an absolute must.
