Housewarming Casey

Casey Bailey is a poet, author, writer, spoken word performer, rapper, song writer and a secondary school senior leader from Birmingham. Last year, after being named Birmingham Poet Laureate, Casey filmed and broadcast spoken word from Sym­phony Hall in collaboration with VerseFirst – on Friday 16 July, audiences are invited to join him in person for an unforgettable performance.


Housewarming Xhosa

Saxophonist Xhosa Cole won BBC Young Jazz Musician 2018 for his “heartfelt” performance.

Xhosa is an embodiment of the success of numerous music outreach programs within Birmingham, including B:Music's Jazzlines. As a saxophonist, Flautist, Composer and Producer, Xhosa has played, studied and collaborated with a wide range of world-class musicians and composers.

Rise Up is an initiative from the music charity responsible for Town Hall and Symphony Hall which offers talented female musicians from the region mentorship from world renowned jazz musicians, access to rehearsal spaces in the iconic Symphony Hall and a platform to showcase their musical and compositional talent through concerts and access to recording studios. The ensemble were selected by a panel of experts including jazz artists Trish ClowesAlica Gardener-Trejo and Yazz Ahmed and is supported by Ian Reaves and the PRS Foundation.
